Who We Are
Our partnership started back in May, 1971 when we got married
after being high school sweethearts. Right from the beginning we
began on the path that would eventually lead us here today with
Netties Petties. We discovered that we both liked taking candid
photos and invested in a 35mm Nikkormat camera, never leaving
the house without it. It wasn’t long before there was a darkroom in
our basement to print our own photos. Soon friends and relatives
were having us photograph them, their weddings, family gatherings,
and their pets too! Victoria, the bulldog, (pictured here) was the
mascot of our very good friend’s rugby team and she really liked
getting her picture taken. When our daughter Jessica was born
(also pictured here), we had a whole new field to play in. No kid has
more 8x10 black and white glossies in her portfolio.
After years of amateur photos, Net (Nettie) got a job as a
professional portrait photographer and took countless school
photos as well as senior portraits for over 12 years. Dennis, who
was a manager of an analytical chemistry lab and now a computer
geek, continued his hobby with bigger and better cameras until he
finally jumped into the digital age a few years ago. We still have our
“darkroom” but it is the computer screen that we work on.
Over the years we have had many pets to share our home and love
with; including 1 precious pup, who stayed with us for 14 years,
many stray cats, a few rescued cats, a couple of sweet ferrets, and
even a few hamsters. Net volunteers her time a couple of days a
week with the Humane Society of Bergen County and has been a
foster mother for a few cute kittens. We both volunteered for fund
raisers for the HSBC, including Santa and Easter shoots where all
the proceeds went to the shelter. Future photo shoots will be
scheduled for the shelter. We’re looking forward to helping the
animals in our own special way.
